STD 3 TO 8 UNIT TESTS 360 DEGREE EVALUATION TESTS WILL BE INTRODUCED FORM GCERT 2025-'26

As per the recommendation of the Committee for 360 Degree Evaluation, quarterly tests will be introduced from standard 3 to 8 as an alternative to the aforementioned unit tests from the current year 2025-26.

The state government announced on Wednesday its plan to implement a comprehensive 360-degree assessment framework across all schools for Classes 1 to 8. This initiative is intended to foster holistic development in children alongside their academic learning, as stated by the government.

An official statement indicated that rather than relying solely on written examinations, there will be ongoing and comprehensive assessments, thereby altering the structure of unit tests. Students will be motivated towards overall development, rather than merely focusing on academic performance. The statement emphasized that education will prioritize essential life skills rather than being solely exam-oriented, allowing students to undergo a tri-dimensional growth in knowledge, skills, and values.

Previously, an expert committee chaired by Jayendrasinh Jadav was established, and the panel has since submitted its findings to the Chief Minister. "In light of this, the 360-degree assessment will be put into effect this year, assessing students' knowledge, skills, values, behavior, cooperation, and approach, thereby rendering education more inclusive and comprehensive," the statement further noted.

Transitioning from conventional mark-based evaluations, the assessment of students' development will encompass not only academic success but also cognitive, affective, and psychomotor domains.
